Groupon Deals

To all my Groupon clients, welcome to the Captures Blog.  I have tried to gather all of the information here in one place. Hopefully this will answer most questions, but feel free to drop me an email if this does not answer your question. I will also be answering any questions on the discussion forum on the Groupon site personally. The basic deal includes a studio mini session. Sessions can take place on location, but an additional travel fee does apply and is payable directly to Captures by Lisa at the time of booking to secure your slot. The fee is $20 for anything over 10 miles from the studio in Maynard, MA. Studio equipment is not offered for on location sessions.

The Basic Deal

The basic deal is this, a 30 minute mini session at the studio, and three sheets of portraits for the price of the Groupon Deal. The 3 sheets must be all the same pose.

1 sheet is equal to:

1 8 x 10  OR
2 5 x 7s  OR
1 sheet of 8 wallet photos

You are welcome to choose whatever size you like for your 3 sheets. They could be all wallets (great for seniors) or all 8 x 10s, or any combination you would like. The only rule is all 3 sheets must be of the same pose.

I will be showing 5 to 10 proofs from your session in an online gallery. You can pick your pose from this gallery for the Groupon deal.

Additional Offers

You can also pick other poses and take advantage of the other deals I am offering for Groupon members, but these are not a part of the basic Groupon Deal, these are in addition to the deal, are priced separately from the Deal, and payable directly to Captures by Lisa. These additional deals are still offered at a steep discount off of Captures regular portrait and digital prices.

As a Groupon client taking part in the Captures Groupon Deal, these additional specials are available to you. These may not be combined with other offers. These include:

25% off additional prints (up to 8 x 10).
A high resolution disk with all your session images can be purchased for $150.

Some additional information

These are a few more points that you may find helpful in answering some of your questions. For the Groupon Deal, there is no limit per person. So if you want a longer session, feel free to purchase 2, or even more. This deal can also be purchased as a gift for someone. I just ask that you send me an email with your name, address, and tell me a little bit about who (their name and any information you think would be helpful in telling me about them) will be receiving your gift so I will know who they are when they call to book their session.

The Groupon session is not really recommended for newborns. You are allowed to use the session for infants if you like, but the younger the baby, the more difficult it can be to make sure we get some good shots in a short period of time. Typical newborn sessions can take anywhere from 2 to 3 hours, due to the nature of such an young infant. So there is no guarantee you will have many, if any, shots from a 1/2 hour session. Young babies often get hungry, could have a fussy period, need diaper changes etc. And this could quickly eat up your 30 minutes, leaving little or no time for shooting. I am happy to schedule a longer session though for younger babies. You can use this Groupon deal by purchasing 2, 3 or even 4 deals and combining them in one session if you prefer. But for newborns no less than an hour is recommended.

This Deal includes up to 6 people. Anything larger may be difficult to fit in the studio space. It may be doable, depending on the number of people, but the variety of poses that can be done with more people is very limited, especially in a 30 minute session.  And the time it takes to just get a larger number of people all posed, looking at the camera and ready, will again, eat into the allowed 30 minute time slot. This is another situation where purchasing 2 deals for 2 sessions may work better for you.  Sessions with more than 8 people may also work out better on location. Allowing for adequate time and space will provide you will more choices and you will be happier with the end result of your session.

You are also welcome to include pets in your session, but they will be limited to the first 10 minutes of the session as pets often have a short window where they are willing to cooperate. Dogs are welcome in the studio, but please make sure to bring someone that can take your pet after their part of the session. This also goes for on location sessions.
